Slithering Disease Poem by Edmund V. Strolis

Slithering Disease

Rating: 5.0

You who are evil, a storm raging in your mind
You are not my brother
Although from a distance we may seem the same
You are not my brother

Your mind is a cesspool of treachery
Ignorance and brutality you wear on your brow
Black mind you steal with a primitive claw
Rabid smiling animal, a cancer to us all

Your disease slithers in the muck
waiting for a coward's moment
Then with vicious force you strike
Preying upon the good and innocent

I for one would gladly snuff you out
You have no soul to even try to save
No my friends it is unfortunate but true
Evil must be banished to the grave.

Edmund a strong poem that lashes out and hit me straight in the gut, especially because of what Assid is doing in Syria. Reading it helped me release some of my feelings around this. I know when i experience fierce anger and outrage I could be capable of violence though i have never acted it out. At the same time its within me and with a different background who knows? I dont know who you are addressing here The words 'slithering disease' conjures up all kinds of images you leave a lot to the imagination but one thing im sure of Edmund is your flaming mad. We poets are lucky to have an outlet for our feelings. My mother once told me you dont need a diary your poems are your diary.

Evil loves a pacifist. The theological, philosophical high ground. How many cages must be built to store away the evil wreckage? If we as a society truly hate the bully as we proclaim to do. Than what of the bully on the international scene? The one that seeks soft targets. I am balanced in a tribal sense. Wishing only to extinguish evil beings in all stripes. I have no stomach for the parade of self righteous posturing buffoons that insist on diplomacy from within the safety of a gated community. Nearly 500,000 Syrians dead and 5,000.000 scattered and wounded. While past politicians pranced, preened and easily hypnotized fawning dregs. In my poem Daddy's Treasure is a universal statement. The bond of parent and child, ancient and mystic. There is only one greater crime than the evil done to this bond and so many others and that is the crime of cowardice, waffling and bluster. Evil will fill the void unless all good people defend the beach.

You've used such well thought out words to concey your message. The photo of the serpent is beautiful....it conveys a message in itself.

The thing is Kaldorei I would love nothing more than to live in a world of peace and harmony but until that day those that would do our loved ones harm must be deterred in a language that they can understand.....all mys best!

We must be vigilant and not expect our neighbors to come to our rescue but we must be the type of neighbor that gladly will.
