Smile Poem by Jeanette Vanity

Smile

A smile
They seem innocent and pure
Don't they?
I should know this
I see them everyday
But behind every smile
Lies a lurking past
An unknown secret
One that wants to go away
The darkness behind that smile
Only wants to seek light
To be set free
So the smile isn't fake
So it isn't just a mask of happiness
So it can be pure once again
Next time you see someone
Anyone.
Think about the smile they have on
Try to look past it
And see what's really inside
Who knows
Maybe you could shine the light they need
Maybe you can free them.
