Smile Of The Moon Poem by Derrick Andrews

Smile Of The Moon

Rating: 4.0

Your stare of compassion could use no disguise,
As intense and captivating as red-orange skies,
Yet, they retain a dark beauty that shimmers and flies,
It's the smile of the moon, that I see in your eyes.

It fluctuates brilliantly, holding insight,
An inviting, pure glow, that emits hopeful light,
I could hardly stand to see you blink, much less leave my sight,
For your gaze is as calming as the lucid, cool night.

The moment stands still as we lock eyes once more,
And we flutter away from the earth's rigid floor,
Your eyes grant me life, with which I can soar,
Like ruffled plastic bags on the breeze of a shore.

The immense illuminations of stars at our feet,
As the young, sickled moon seems to sway to the beat,
Of my heart's own excitement that won't take its seat,
All of this is what I feel, right before our lips meet.

A sweet poem of romance using the moon to reflect the state of your love. It has a nice, natural flow to it & was enjoyable to read. Jeannie Spiritsong
