Treasure Island

So What Next

Crawl, born, sorry,
Crawl, chew, or chew, crawl,
Stand walk, run,
Drive swim, fall stall,
That should be swim drive,
Race, learn mature and grow,

Born, crawl, eat, chew,
Red, yellow, green, blue,
Hands, glove, feet, shoe,
Lion, tiger, giraffe, cat?

Learn read, no sorry,

Read learn, show test,
Aspire at 14,15 best,
At 16, barely hairy chest,

You're finished! Now choose your path,

A job, drinks, drugs, laugh?
Study finish, study pass,
Study UNI, gowns, pass,
Study, interview, suit? Class!

Work, live, sorry live work,

Live eat, gym, work, run, street,
Friends, rarely, very, meet,
Time invested, future past,

House, mortgage, no sorry,
Deposit house, mortgage, damp,
Electrics, mouse, trap, tent,
Camping, ski trips public school,
The Joneses have a swimming pool,

We must also have, usurp the neighbours,
Debt mortgage, banking favours,
Debt children's, debt from loans,
Choir practice, retirement homes,

What's next?

Charity, church,

Pray for mercy,

A life spent enjoying sensual pleasures,

Pray for forgiveness,

Let me in,
I'll read at mass,
I'll dance and sing,

So what's next?

Poem of the Day

poet Rupert Brooke

If I should die, think only this of me:
That there's some corner of a foreign field
