(social) Irony

Rating: 2.7

Irony –

Ahhh triumphant I rode; exit left from social battle.
The curtain fell and they cried 'Encore', but I gave none.
I left them hanging in the air, captivated, wanting more;
I smiled to myself as I walked head held high through the door.
Their memories brittle and like sheep they herd
but I saw the sun rise every day remembering how absurd
their behaviour towards me some time passed
when driven from their social gatherings and how they all laughed.
My ego destroyed and left in tatters, fodder for entertainment
when I turned to them at my lowest point I was 'nout but an embarrassment.
It really hurt at the time but tonight was perfect
as those very same people had forgotten their reject.
A trivial moment, maybe, but put a huge personal crisis to rest
No longer was I the one to mock and detest
as illusiveness and quiet caring, with ample patience did show
that it wasn't me that had learnt but them that had grown;
unwittingly.......
