Soiled In Translation

Translations must be soiled;
so a one of a one must be foul;
so should I cease
the nineteen eleven
French to English one
of War and Peace
which I started
at the death of Andrew's wife,
to shorten the book
and the odds I'll see
its ending
before that of my life?
