Sold Down The River Poem by Brian Stafford

Sold Down The River

Rating: 5.0

They've been breaking up my homeland,
giving it all away;
They're selling us down the river,
giving our rights away;
With lots of broken promises,
they won't let us have our say;
They've sold the family silver;
the cupboards are almost bare;
With deceit an barefaced lies,
they're throwing it all away
They take away your savings,
that you've kept for a rainy day;
When they've finished tinkering,
it's us who'll have to pay;
They squander and they borrow,
they're just a dam disgrace;
They fiddle and they flounder,
but they never take the blame;
It us who have to suffer,
they will just walk away;
Our customs have been eroded,
by faceless bureaucrats;
It was the land of milk and honey,
but now its all gone sour;
They've lost or they've squandered,
everything that you gave;
The ancient politicians,
will be turning in the grave.

A great poem, it's the greed of the government's, nothing will ever change.
