Solidarity In Division Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Solidarity In Division

A solidarity in division.
With a daily dose,
Of contradiction.
Growing mold on aged traditions.
Is more accepted to reflect.
The best kept secret,
That keeps the people...
Better left protesting,
This way of life to expect.

This solidarity in division,
Used as a tool to distract...
Truth from facts.
And fiction delivered,
Like no other act attracts.
With the 'right' that has the 'left',
Confused.
By claiming to be abused and used.
Although can not say,
By who or which side of the fence...
Do fools argue to defend themselves.

"What is this 'infighting' all about? "

-Disparities of entitlements.
Confusion between the people.
That has made no sense.
And a government many want,
Less in their lives.
But dependent upon...
When devastating storms arrive.-

"Uh...
I don't understand.
Why is there conflict, racism and division?
All I see is diversity.
And achievements made.
Never before to believe."

-Well...
You must admit,
Old habits are difficult to quit that quick.
And besides,
Loving to lie to ourselves...
Is what we do.
And we protest that being threatened.
With the possibility of 'that',
Being taken away from us.-

"You all are 'nuts'."

-We know.
But it does have its benefits! -
