Some Memory Of Them
SOME MEMORY OF THEM
I want there to be some memory of them
So even when I am gone
There will be some memory
Of those I have cared about and loved-
True,
Words on a page
Are not the same as the memory of the person
Who has known them in life-
But words are something perhaps
What I can do when I am here-
And when no one is here
Who no longer remembers them in person?
Or even remembers me in person?
I won't care then, perhaps
But now
I don't want them to be forgotten
As if they never were
I want I need for there to be
some memory of them-
