Some Songs Poem by Ridge Dillard

Some Songs

I find solace in familiar sounds
Which pick me up when I fall down
Calms my soul when I’m astounded
By the ache and hurt I’ve found
The tears in which I drown
Like guiding lights
some songs make right
Previous transgressions
And the stumblings to a different path
One less cluttered by realities wrath
Some songs provide a means of escape
An instant transparency of fate
Showing me which words
Were poorly chosen
Wounds left open
Tender to memory’s touch
Agitated by the harmonious flux
Of some songs
