Someone Different Poem by Elise Tan

Someone Different

Nothing special ever happens for a little girl like me,
The day goes by like any other one which is plain ordinary,
An adventure is what I require, for inspiration on a paper,
Something that can inspire, something I can write later,

If only there were wardrobes that I could simply walk into,
When the world gets too dull and scary, and I need something new,
Falling in to a hole while following a white rabbit wouldn't be so bad,
If it could lead me into a mysterious peculiar wonderland,

The excitement just bubbles up within me, when something odd takes place,
The drag and bluntness of reality, needs some salt and pepper to taste,
I'd trade a bunch of articles about corruption in politics and crime in streets,
For stuff out of the ordinary like a whale in my fish pond or a cave full of sweets,

The rebellion and interests of teens this century have scuppered my day,
But it seems like I'm the only one feeling this way,
Mingling around is something I need to learn,
Well, this is what you get when you're just so different.
