Someone Gave Away A Car Today Poem by Raj Dronamraju

Someone Gave Away A Car Today

In debt we trust
Because there is nothing else
If I lived within my means
My life would be empty

I grasped the unfairness of life
Someone gave away a car today
So I could further grasp the unfairness of life
Someone gave away plastic surgery, a washing machine

The grossness of vanity and excessive wealth
Makes one imagine they are some kind of an angel
But it's not charity to give away material objects
It's not a matter of life and death
Makeovers for everyone!

Let's all feel good about ourselves
Her noblesse oblige, crumbs for grinning, salivating fools
Someone gave away a car today
But common sense dictates the more pressing needs
Food, running water, vaccinations for children
