Sometimes Poem by Mehreen Mujeeb

Sometimes

Lines of light
Draw through a torch
A torch spotlighting,
Puddles in my mind.

The heat packed in light
Evaporates the puddles sometimes
But many puddles are still wet
Because light cannot curve
Sometimes
Stones and twigs that fall
Circle ripples in the dark
Some freeze and become skating rinks
The people who skate can scratch my mind.

Feelings and thoughts
Are temporary
Be careful,
When you turn them into something permanent.
