Somewhere Poem by Stan Rodriguez

Somewhere

Somewhere a day begins
a child is born—another dies
and night slows down to slumber

Somewhere two lovers kiss
four go their separate ways
eight get married
and sixteen end up all alone

Somewhere the earth is flat
the mountains sing
the sea keeps racing to the shore
and it snows again in late October

Somewhere I wish to be
anywhere other than myself
enjoying warm nights in paradise
and hold my first born

Somewhere and in no other place.
