Songs That Remind Me Of Muses Poem by James P. Roberts

Songs That Remind Me Of Muses

The prophet sat in the dusty road
his thin body wrapped in a loose garment.
'Love Kills' he caroled to a bent king.

The horseman reined in his appaloosa.
Over the crest of the hill, in a valley,
lay 'Eldorado'. A zephyr nickered about his ears.

The baron stood high in his castle turret
gazing upon his 'Koln' domain. For six minutes
he wooed and wooed, walking among stones.

'Don't Stop Me Now' the woman cried. She
scratched the wood roughly, a tall yawn left
her senseless. She fell to the floor and sighed.

Through the crystal ball the sorceress felt
the 'Good Vibrations'. Her trainee son, Wil, left
the country and usurped a foreign throne.

Electric Liz and Mund's son went back
to 'That Old Time Rock 'N Roll' but somehow
got lost in the 'Shadow Of A Lonely Man'.

She slept upon the sofa in just a bikini,
dreaming of tangerines, her thin neck haloed
by soft hair and it still could be 'You And Me'.
