Sonnet # 35 Poem by John A. Hancock

Sonnet # 35

Dazzling threads of silk entwined
Velvet hair like gold it shines
Your magic eyes doth cast a spell
That charm'd my soul when'st beheld
A quaint beauty thou doth possess
My heart beats for thee within my breast
A song of love it joyfull plays
Each time by chance you gaze my way
Stolen glances I oft took of you
For it be your smile I was drawn too
Though I know your lips I shan't ne'er kiss
Behold they a power I can't resist
So I bare thee thoughts of romance that cannot be
Inspired simply by the sight of thee
