Sonnet For A Late Afternoon Poem by R B Seals

Sonnet For A Late Afternoon

To want someone beyond the why,
A precious encounter gone awry;
The many times I felt so sure—
Sweet splendor, cherished cure.
'Twas Life he brought to heart
Before twisting soul 'n spirit apart;
Wishing Love had ruled the day,
An outcome undreamt held sway.
Nigh is dusk faced on my own,
The harsh reality of being alone.
The dream fades as day to night,
Darkness visible—absent light.
Despondence; obligations met—
Waves envelop, finality, no regret.
