Sonnet: Parents Or Friends? Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: Parents Or Friends?

You come across some persons in your life
On earth, at school or college or workplace;
And some become your friends or foes or wife
Or parents, teachers in the human race.

The love and care of parents looks so great;
No child reciprocates their toil for you;
In old age, children love them not but hate;
About this senseless thing, what can you do?

The modern youth woos friends much more than kin;
To them, true joy is moving with mere friends;
More bliss is from virtuality and sin;
The love in homes seems unreal or ends!

But youth turned parents, realize the truth;
True love of kindred is the luscious fruit.
