Sonnet: The Good Shepherd Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: The Good Shepherd

However much they try to go astray,
The Shepherd Good hard works to keep safe sheep;
He slumbers not by night nor naps by day,
But watches them with care on slopes so steep!

The flock must move to pastures greener still;
They need to drink from brooks with water clean;
They must not get injured or become ill;
The wolf may come by stealth upon the scene!

The Shepherd knows His flock, calls sheep by name;
His staff will help to keep the wolf at bay;
To bring all sheep back home is His main aim;
No sheep must go amiss upon the way!

The flock is safe under the Shepherd's care;
To pounce upon a sheep, no wolf can dare!
