Sonnet: Whither Learning Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: Whither Learning

Something is truly wrong with students now,
Although their intellect shows upward trend;
For teachers and knowledge, they have no love;
To learn a skill, they will only pretend.

But blame, I will the teacher and the taught;
The environment has changed a lot these days;
And in a web of false lifestyles, all caught,
Their precious time is lost in wasteful ways.

The population stress, the globe can’t stand;
Unhealthy competition is rampant;
And politicians also have a hand;
If things that happen are so sly and slant.

Consumerism has made things all worse!
The modern world has come under a curse.
