Sorting Through, Poem by Minnie Gehrig

Sorting Through,

Evreything is placed on the scale,
Weighed, tossed out or fought over,
Photo albums lay poured out and purged
like some sick belimic,

Pictures of our daughter
sorted and played gambled over,

All these boxes stacked against us
labled, casting shadows upon the corner
of this sad family room,
now empty corners, only the spiders love,

Every happiness.
every sacrifice named
as if our time together
was a common grocery list

What children we are
Playing house,
like it were made only of blocks,

Me like alice,
you the cheshire cat.
