Soulmate Poem by Peter Bain

Soulmate

Rating: 5.0

Captured by her starry eyes
Pools of sapphire blue
Reaper of my saddest sighs
I only wished she knew.

We met on a social network
A year or two ago
We had a fleeting love affair
Then she let me go

We've kept in frivolous contact
My feelings never showing
We make the occasional phone call
We laugh without her knowing.

She's always in my thoughts
And dancing with my heart
I keep a comfortable distance
And the miles play their part

I think about her beautiful smile
The way she makes me feel
I think about what could have been
Where all my dreams are real

Thinking of her gentle touch
The softness of her skin
Memories of her warm embrace
The way she pulled me in

Too much wishful thinking though
Thoughts of romantic bliss
Dreaming of her starry eyes
And the way we used to kiss

I know it's unrequited
I know she's just my friend
But in my heart I love her
I'll love her till the end

Very romantic and beautiful rendition of a once upon a time romance, reliving it in memories of enticing and wishful thinking. Really wonderful poem, very expressive, great imagery and rhythm! Thank you for sharing. RoseAnn
