Sparkling Memories Poem by Edmund V. Strolis

Sparkling Memories

Rating: 5.0

But didn't that river sparkle that day?
Light dancing from the summer sun
Two kayaks gliding effortlessly
Two easy smiles dancing along

Unencumbered memories released
Float too and welcome the loving sun
Too many good memories have hidden
Gather them gladly and move on

Glide easily around the sunken sadness
Let the bad memories sink and sleep
Reclaim the river by traveling lightly
You're only as happy
as the memories you keep

Sparkling memories keep the heart warm. Good n bad memories are part of life. But lets glow in the warmth of only good memories n let go of the bad. Such beautiful imagery. I loved it.

As it is with history, one must always remember the bad as well or be doomed to repetition. The trick is not to dwell on either the bad or the good but to take full advantage of the singular now.

For myself I must be able to see beyond the emotion. As is all too often the case. People being as we are. Life's expectations often fell short. My shortcomings as well as others proved that too err is indeed human and to forgive -sublime. I say to gather the good from those times and to let the rest sink, not to be forgotten but to sink below our river of life and then to be free to enjoy the good with a clear perspective. Life can be a tangled thing, that tangles even more unless we have sense enough to let some things go from time to time.

I had to learn this lesson myself. I had the feeling while writing this bit of living philosophy that you would appreciate it. Hope all is well across the pond.

Exactly. Time to forgive, let go, and move. Love the water imagery.
