Slip into a comic playful phase
Dazzle them with explosive greetings
But make sure the fire is from the heart
Pull them in and glow, then share the stage
A needle in a groove has moved
All because of you, wonderful music plays
Now let the scene expand around you
Let the world become your center stage
No longer a rut of dull routine
We all do the same dance, rise, function, sleep
But now we rise far beyond our usual routine
And function as a willing soul, and dream deep.
Deep enough to feel ourselves worthy
Now we dance through life in magic movements
We have it within us to return to the child within
The one with a daring wit and disdain for gloom
How many coins we hold we do not know
We can only reveal them one by one
The child within us knows that one can be enough
So spend this coin, release your grip.
Join me in the adventure, dare to play the fool
We are paupers or kings and the world is our stage
Just believe it to be so, this is after all, your play
Remember, each coin's value is measured by the heart.
Love it! I'm spending my coins right now! What a positive tribute to us... Our lives.. Our magic!
Dazzle them with explosive greetings where heart will be filled with magical essence. Very wise and expressive poem that scribbles thought. Wonderful...10

hey, edmund! i like this poem. it's similar in some respects to my poem the our and us in the lord's prayer. disdain for gloom is the phrase that most strikes a chord for me. it reminds me of how it bugged me that so much of what was considered literature was gloomy and depressing, as though it wasn't literature if it didn't feel like this. i also resonate strongly with what you say about the child within. though i can imagine some poo-pooing this as psycho-babble, this is a reality, and something i relate to jesus saying, unless you become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of God. another thing your poem reminds me of is the decision not to care about putting myself out there in my poetry. when i first started writing this was a struggle. i had read a lot of freud and taken several psychology courses and wondered what people might think of me, what they might read into my words. it's freeing not to care(!) good stuff to think on. good encouragement. glen
