Speed Poem by emily summers

Speed

Rating: 5.0

Adrenaline rushes at super speed,
racing around my body,
for these few magnificent minutes i feel no pain,
i'm energetic,
invinsible,
not sensible,
never vulnerable,
i'm fun,
I know it all,
i'm a social tool,
a class fool,
they're laughing at me not with me but i'm none the wiser,
another mouthful of drink and i'll be even bliner,
i feel myself going under,
euphoria,
hallelujah,
my emotions are numb,
a loose connection,
no affection,
no attention,
the room is spinning,
my stomach feels sickening,
i feel like a fling,
i'm still dancing,
my temperature is rising,
i am not fantasizing,
i am realising,
this isn't a dream it's real life,
the music is playing,
my hips are swaying,
my feet are aching,
but i am okay,
i can go on all night,
i am free,
i got my buzz from ecstasy,
now i know why they call it speed,
my legs are moving before me,
it's closing time,
i feel fine,
i don't want to go,
outside i'm so alone,
i hit the floor,
a bouncer threw me out the door,
the sun beams into my bloodshot eyes,
mums and kids walk by,
they look disgusted,
i feel so ashamed,
my adrenaline has gone, here comes the pain,
what was i insane?
I'm in a state of disdain,
i feel frail,
i look pale,
i push myself up,
with any luck i will be okay,
suddenly it's all a haze,
i lay barely awake,
i'm in a hospital bed,
what happened last night?
I'm in a fright,
turns out my drink had been spiked,
it wasn't a dream,
but reality,
i thought i was free,
but i was locked in the prison of ecstasy.

Emily, you are getting the right message across in this one. Don't Take Drugs. A lot of people think that drugs are necessary to get high, they are not. I've never taken drugs for fun in my life. I've taken medicine prescribed by a doctor. But speed, crack and all the others, no thank you. I don't need them to get my kicks. Just having fun, telling a few jokes is all I need. Great poem. Top marks from me. Thanks for sharing it. David
