Spiritual Awakening Poem by Nicolas 'Kokonutz' Kokonas

Spiritual Awakening

There was a palm tree looking at me
Rather strangely
Like he wanted to ask me a question but couldn’t find the right words
I nodded to him gently as if to say

“No worries, take your time, find the words”
I sat beside him, and with the rhythm of the sea, began to pluck
my ukulele

When I reached the refrain
A brisk breeze came and he began to sing along with me
and dance in sync to the melodies.

We sang together all afternoon
Until a moonless night pulled up the covers over us
and we slept.
It was my spiritual awakening and it was also
A Tuesday.
