Sporadic Shower Poem by Namita Rani Panda

Sporadic Shower

I know very well your never-so-clever trick
that you love to play with me hide and seek,
you have a delusion that my core is too weak
that will shrivel in want of the cool cloudburst I seek.
Maybe I am a dehydrated Atacama desert
with piles of sand dunes in scorching heat,
thousands cacti with their prickly spines tenaciously flourish
persistently prepared to preserve your scanty shower's bliss.
Perhaps you're aware too much shower will turn me brown
so you come sporadically to see me in full bloom.
