Spring Poem by Jenny Betteridge

Spring

Spring is here again, nature reborn
Bringing all things we miss in the winter
New leaves and flower buds delight me
Snowdrops, crocus and daffodils
Peep through a carpet of green

As the flowers blossom, so does my mood
And as days grow longer, leaving winter behind
I cast aside my warm clothes to embrace
The season thatfills me with wonder.

All around me new life emerges
Baby lambs in the fields
Ducklings in the parks
And the frogs' chorus announces spring's arrival.

The sunshine makes people smile
Happy in its golden glow
And I welcome the birds serenading me at dawn
rousing me to start my day.

Spring turns my garden into a paradise
Where bees hum and butterflies flutter
And when the sun shines its warmth on my eyelids
Idream of happy summer days

And on grey days, when my cares overwhelm me
I sit in the garden, close my eyes
and listen to the clear, sweet song of the blackbird
I feel glad to be alive.
