Square The Circle Poem by Pat Royce

Square The Circle

When you get that sinking feeling
Because you know you've lost the game
You wish there'd been more empathy
Though you know that blame is lame

Remember how we wished to be
Before life got so profound
As this candle keeps on burning
To square that circle round

Now I think of all this reverie
And Smile to hide the pain
Because life is what we think it is
As our sunshine turns to rain

It's so easy when I see you
My heart beats like a drum
Your eyes are blazing diamonds
Your smile the warming sun

But I guess you want a whole man
A soul man just won't do
So I sink into my feather-bed
And dream endless dreams of you

Though they cannot change a sausage
Or fix this fatal flaw
My soul is always open
My heart is at the door

Because I fell in love
