Reading tomes of wisdom world vies,
Getting for it none any wise,
Truth of love's-letters-four that toes,
Wisdom of what matters he knows.

Hereunder is given the original doha, a couplet by Kabeer, which when rendered in English takes all of four lines, a quatrain or more:
Pothi padh padh kar jag mua, pandit bhayo na koye
Dhai aakhar prem ke, jo padhe so pandit hoye
Dhai akshar prem ke, or make it four for love! He that knows it is a learned man, not he that with tomes of wisdom began.
Topic: love, wisdom
Kabeer's doha, is invaluable sir! Your are doing an excellent job in transmitting his words of wisdom in condensed forms...............10
Yes, in two pithy couplets he was a master at conveying a lot. Doha is a couplet on the lines of Sanskrit shloka, but actually a quatrain, and I am trying to retain its quatrain form as far as possible. Thanks for your encouragement.
This poem has not been translated into any other language yet.
I would like to translate this poem
This is a very well known and famed doha of Kabir. " Dhai akshar prem" He who knows to love is the wisest and most learned........loved it Aniruddha ji....10
Yes, you are right, intially I've started with the most popular, and may be, later more of them. Thanks for visiting.
