Stage Poem by Tracy Willey

Stage

we're not all actors
on the stage of life
we're puppets
we're not in control
of our lives
we have nothing
don't think you can
help yourself
'cause you can't
don't think you have
nothing
cause you do
real fear comes
from real danger
real danger comes
from fake assumptions
fake assumptions
come from stupidity
stupidity comes
from the human mind
the human mind
makes lies
to sketch your life
in just a few words
is nothing
to tell your life through
a novel is art
to tell yourself
you'll be okay
is wrong
to tell others
that they'll be okay
is mutiny
soak up the lies
wring out the truth
you are the sponge
of humanity
soak up the truth
wring out the lies
you are the rag
of poetry
your academic problems
will seem huge to you
your huge problems
will seem academic
to others
they can never really know
your true identity
unless you wish
to be cleansed
scrubbed with falsities
to remove what you
believe is true
please trust me when i say
that you are not alone
please know that to lie to you
would be the ultimate sin
when i say that you should love
when i tell you that you can cry
you need to believe that
i would surely die if
i ever told a lie...
