Stages Of Dementia Poem by Rii Abela

Stages Of Dementia

Early:

I am scared.
Whom will I become?
What shall I remember?
Whom shall I forget?

Middle:

I am confused
Who am I?
Where am I?
Who are these strange people?
What am I doing here?

Late:

'She is lost.'

That’s how it is…and it’s sad when you see someone that you love go through that. You think of all the things they know, and can share with you but it’s locked in their brain.
