The stairway to heaven
Lies way beyond my soul,
Far-away from my heart,
And out of my control.
As I pass each second,
Of every single day,
I take steps to travel,
This far and distant way.
The stairway to heaven
Leads to a final goal,
When earthly life's absorbed
Via blending of the whole.

good to know there's a destination ahead and you relay that in fine rhyme and meter. only one nitpick with this - line five seems to need an extra syllable. my humble suggestion: 'as I pass each second by' cheers.
p.s. because of the famous Led Zeppelin song bearing the same title, you might consider modifying yours a bit?
This is a grate poem It's nice to belive that there is somethig after death
Oh Ernestine, I could hug you for this, it should be written in light and placed among the stars, THE HAUNTINGLY BEAUTIFUL STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN May God bless you and your closest Love Duncan
I love this poem I would like to know if I can borrow the poem
The stairway to heaven, ah how brilliantly put. We expect something perhaps when we move on yet we are never sure, so I think your point of lack of control is fantastic here. Lovely almost lyrical flow in there too. All the best, Seán
I enjoyed reading your poem, I thought it was going to be like the song Stair way to heaven.
Serene and ethereal - beautifully composed Ernestine. Warmest wishes, Justine
