State Of Mind Poem by Linda Mtambo

State Of Mind

The price we pay, they never dare say

The sacrifices we make will be rewarded someday. So they say.

"How are you today? "

"Okay" you say...

Neither great nor grateful, just okay

This day, really, is no different from yesterday.

A luxurious view afforded to you,

Soon to be realized as no experience too new.

"Oh but how I wish you really knew."

A stroll on the beach your minds ponders

Yes....? No....Maybe tomorrow

As life on the express lane battles wind and waves

Your soul yearns for your childlike ways.

But you dare not leave and you dare not wander,

For this corporate world, knows no slumber.
