Stay Leave Be Gone..... Poem by RIC BASTASA

Stay Leave Be Gone.....

we all aimed for
ambiguity, hoping that by
making them wonder
they may finally find themselves
in that state of awe which
of course
we all want to meet and hug.

where we see ourselves as children
again in those unbalancing bodies
those eyes that gleam with all
innocence not knowing where to land
that bird with a new set of wings.

the irony is that we want to send the
message across, like a boat crossing to
the other side of the island and yet
when the boat is there already
no passenger wants to disembark and say
what happened why they all become muted.

and so we learn this art of conversing
with our hands doing other things or
our mouths eating and full and eyes dreaming
for sleep and counting tomorrows.

and so we have lost you, knowing that everything
here is on the utilitarian side of the world.
when the use is gone, the bonds are cut and
navels are kept away from its body and soon
grown up men shall talk about the next war.

there is actually no end for this ambiguity
this sense of not knowing too well where are we
going, what is the real purpose or sharply thinking
and arriving that actually there is no purpose
actually in our honest minds. Stay, leave, be gone.
