Steel Eyes Poem by Naveed Akram

Steel Eyes

I fix my eyes on lives of steel,
Stoning the devils and demons instead;
I fix the pair of ears, after deafness
Obliterates the experience of the soul.
For I pray unto the Lord
Who answers my request if I love.
The eyes of a demon cast their stare
On the wondering faces of fear and fascination.
I do not know the reason why they touch
The loves of a man and woman in matrimony.
The living stare casts a shadow of thought
On the bliss of these two carers,
The couple of delicious doves,
A wonderful pair of prodigies in the inner
Soul, the soul that inhabited the heart
Since time immense.
