Still A Happier Face Staring At The Mirror Poem by RIC BASTASA

Still A Happier Face Staring At The Mirror

the way you ignore
makes you a survivor
all these long years
your mind has become
one numb machine.

oh, all those defective
little things,
oh, all those bigger ones
which can be considered
as negligible

the way she changes
the landscape of that
garden
the way she lets all
the clutter remain

the way you want all
these changed
the hopes that you still
entertain

oh, all those defective
little things,
oh, all those bigger ones
which can be considered
finally as nothing but
negligible

it is always not time
to move to another place
it is always not the right
time for change

all these, this fidelity to
what is here
this contentment for
what shall be

all these have made you
a survivor
still a happier face staring
smiling, teasing you
in the mirror
