Still We Wonder Poem by chantelle ribeiro

Still We Wonder

It's a new week
Another question mark on our existence
We are so sure about our time here
So careless with our words and thoughts
our days predictable and crazy
Our feelings hidden away behind walls
Masks in place we prepare for another day
Adrift on a sea of unhappiness we go
Blindly following each other
Never thinking or blinking
Robots going through the motions of living
Lying and deceiving
Using and abusing
Never genuinely interested to know
About the pain
The sorrow
The deeper meaning of life
We are our own worst enemies
Victims of our own bad choices
And still we wonder
why we are where we are
When all we have to do is be thankful
we are here at all
