Stolen Mandate Poem by David Oladipupo Olorunshola

Stolen Mandate

Whenever a people speak
But, you short change them
And you would not allow
Their voices to be heard.
You steal their voice
Though, they scream loud
You gag and strangle them.
Thinking this will continue,
For as long as you want.
It is a matter of time
And that time will come
For you to pay back.
You will pay for the
Stolen mandate and all
The atrocities you have committed
Don’t you forget the fact that
It is not only the person
That steals from the market
That is a thief, even the one
Who receives the stolen item
From him is also a thief.
You dress yourself up
And parade before the people
A stolen mandate.
Don’t you get it?
You have become repulsive,
Repugnant to the people
You claim you want to rule.
They rejected you,
Don’t you care, have
You no shame or decency
To know, this will not last
Or be forever.

The voice of the people,
Is like the voice of God.
They spoke, loud and clear
But you ignore them.
You regard them as inconsequential,
Though, you delay
Their voices been heard;
Not for long or forever
You assume too much,
That you have perfected
The act of manipulation
And everyone has a price tag,
But this is the people’s voice
They made a choice,
You took by force and con
Their voice,
Their mandate.
