Stranded On A Star Poem by David Thomas

Stranded On A Star

your words keep talking
even as your legs keep walking,
i don't know how to write anymore
the feelings i loved all twisted,
the thoughts i knew so thoughtless,
now i cannot for my soul's content
believe that i were for once
not alone,
as the fire that burns
deep within my heart
burns and burns a fire of the night
Should morning come to,
and this mighty flame should grow,
i'd march a thousand miles
whatever way the wind should blow,
to tell you my dear that still fast
and still strong,
a man's heart once settled,
can never again be stirred
for never a time will a man of true love leave,
when in life there never be a sweeter sweet
than the presence of her heart and his at ease.
