Stumbling Forward Poem by Mary OBrien

Stumbling Forward

Stumbling backwards
Into this strange new life
Picking up the pieces
One by one off the floor

Trying to move forward
Or turn left or right
Which way do I go now
Stuck searching for the door

Still falling slowly
No one to pull me out
Or push me further
I can't hold on any more

With faith I plunge forward
Into the unknown
The path that I have chose
Finding hope worth fighting for

Climbing the hills and mountains
Separating me from you
Putting more miles in between
Taking shelter by the shore

The sand and snow weigh me down
Yet my footseps are closing in
Finally I meet the sunrise
And shed this weight for ever more
