Succession Poem by Etienne Charilaou

Succession

Now the jacarandas bloom;
purple clouds appear amid
the green canopy of trees.
Jasmine has long since faded
and so too the Syringa's flowers.
Each flowers in its own time;
and fortunately for us
there appears to be a succession
so that we may have colours
to look upon for many weeks
instead of a solitary flowering
and weeks of green thereafter.
