Suffocating Poem by Ellie Hallie

Suffocating

Rating: 5.0

The anger builds,
It’s a torrent of my imagination.
I want to swipe at the veil that encompasses me,
I’m suffocating.

I can’t see any return,
From washed out depths.
Lost in the past, in the rage,
I lie,
Still suffocating.
Still reaching for breath.
I hold on,
Barely.

Punching at the air,
I regret my decision,
I regret everything.
Darkness is my only relief.
It tries to slip closer,
But for some reason I push it away.
I long for Summertime,
Yellow mango, apples, sunshine.
I long for freedom,
But I am a child of chains.

It holds me fast,
The sights,
The sounds,
The wrath.
My wrath.
Born from the ashes,
Living to no end.
I’m suffocating.
Still suffocating.
The child of chains,
The child of anger,
The child of hope.
