Summer Lament Poem by Evelyn Macdonald

Summer Lament

The temperature keeps soaring
I feel wet from sweat that's pouring
and I'm physically sick from all this sun
If I keep up this perspiring
I'll be ready for expiring
I've had quite enough of summer
'cause its too darn hot

All this heat has got me weeping
Interfered with nightly sleeping
and I've gotten kinda crabby, so they say
If this heatwave doesn't break
I'll go mad for goodness sake
I've just had it with the summer
'cause its too darn hot

The mercury keeps rising
so it shouldn't be surprising
that I'm not a happy camper, no I'm not
But I had to have my say
'fore I melt and slip away
You can take and shove the summer
'cause its too darn hot

You captured how annoying the heat of this summer can be very well here. I had thought about writing a similiar poem too, but wrote about the wind instead. lol I was so happy to feel some cool breeze in the evenings at least. If you care to read my poem called 'The Wind' it would be appreciated. Spiritsong
