Summer's Awesome Days Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

Summer's Awesome Days

Summer's Awesome Days

Ah!
Summer still flaunts
Her smile and we,
Garden care takers weed,
Water and deadhead our
Garden beds...
My own are raised to my
Delight with Shasta Daises,
Columbine and marigolds,
Miss Bradshaw in red and
tall Gooseneck Lupin and yellow
Evening Primrose.
The Rose Bushes are still in bloom, but
Already some flowers are losing
Their bloom and soon
Natures clock will change
Seasons and summer will
Draw her curtain, taking
A bow for the happiness given.
Her sounds will become quiet,
With no beach water splashing
Or Yelling from Ferris Wheels
Decorating the sky.
Swimming pools will empty;
Hot air balloons will lower
Their baskets and parks
Will no longer over-flow with
People, everywhere laughing
And smiling wide.
Yes sweet summer and its fun
Filled picnics with every one's
Favorite dish and music blaring!
Summer's radiance will linger in
Days of Autumn when leaves
Begin to dance and Autumn,
Mimics summer's smile
