Sun Beetles Poem by Goddo Faggotte

Sun Beetles

My head is full of cicadas
Chock-a-block with Sonbeesies
Sonbeesies are Beetles of the Sun
My head is full of Sun
with Beetles
Fizzing and popping and buzzing

Bruisend en suisend
Die sjambok sweep klap
Die middelmannetjie skrik en
Prikkel Prikkel staan hy op
Hy hardloop voor die wa in pas met
Die musiek van die Sonbeesies

Beetles of Ra,
Descendants of Scarab
The Beetles of the Sand
The Pharonic Beetles of
The Great African Desert,
theirs is not a royal inheritance
rather of the music of this
Hot, dark continent iAfrika

The Sun Beetles sing from the
Thorned Acacia – monotone sopranos
A bushveld orchestra seated in
the Umbrella Thorn shading.
The Beetles of the Sun hide from
Their Father Sun.
