‘There is a smile of smiles’
Playthings like the skirts of heaven in world’s winds,
Cosmic breaches of my own finitude illicit
Ephemeral dreams like glimpses through the window of matter
Peeks into the dream of love’s infinity
Awash with milky light that glows like a moon; unadulterated song
Taut chords of the violin frame of body rush to clasp.
I remember when the earth was only beginning to see
Cracked open like a bird’s egg, breaching
Through embryo of broken void: genesis. longing,
Hope in noises, first movements in fragility,
Opened up flower of a Mind that sings
In every Word a man or beast has ever spoken
As the wind through the trees or the hymns of crickets in evening.
And all at once there was no longer a use
For the poison of my own destruction
