Sunrise Poem by Shelli Sanders

Sunrise

The sky seems to fade from black to violet as the sun slowly awakens from its midnight slumber, the clouds gather around the darkness to swallow the stars as their light begins to fade.
The birds sing a love song as the new day approaches and the cry of yesterday can be heard above the mountains as the sliver of light breaks the darkness.
The earth beckons forth the promise of the new day.
The night fades into the distance as the light softly touches the tree tops; brushing over the leaves as it tumbles down the limbs and breaks through the the stillness of the edge of sunrise.
