Sunset In The City Poem by Jose A. Carmona

Sunset In The City

Rating: 5.0

Huge buildings across the horizon
stand so close to the vanishing sun
a lonely bird cracks into his song
as he sits on the roof of a building.

Down from him lights turn on
two images seem to embrace
as the fire scape glows like fire
reflecting the fading sun.

A roaring of an engine is heard
across the bright red sky
the only tree moves to its rhythm
the plane didn't seem as if it could fly.

As it gets darker
the fireflies bring out their lights
a boy sits dreaming in silence
hoping to find his guiding light.

With one hand to his side
and the other holding his radio
he sits there with a smile
wanting to see the first star.
