Sunshine Over Mars Poem by bob barci

Sunshine Over Mars

Dozing off into my mind
I wonder what I'll find there.
Visions flash
and visions crash.
Whatever thoughts run across my brainwaves
appear in form on my dream screen.
But tonight, all I get are
flashes of yellow -
flashes of blue -
flashes of white -
and a flash of fire from my dream screen.
With wide open eyes
I become aware of a greenish tint around me.
Investigation finds it everywhere.
Following it through a doorway
it thickens, then eases off.
I find myself in the midst of familiar growth,
near a familiar looking building.
I turn slightly and there you are.
I softly call your name,
you step closer as if I were expected.
We embrace.
I am led into the building
and floating beside you down a hall of green vapor
a door opens leading to your dream screen.
We enter slowly.
A warm breeze from the window calls to me.
I float out the window in the midst of a green cloud.
In a single ray of light you disappear.
Where have you gone?
Mars, is the unspoken answer I get.
